WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

GUTS Dance is seeking a passionate and skilled Treasurer to join our Management Committee. As Treasurer, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability of GUTS as we continue to grow our capacity and enhance our impact.

Key responsibilities include/What you'll be doing:

• Approving fortnightly payroll

• Overseeing financial reports and summarising to the Board at meetings

• Providing advice on financial systems and processes

• Assisting in the creation and maintenance of financial policies

• Working with the Board and Co-artistic Directors to meet governance and compliance requirements
  

• Risk Management and Compliance:  

• Identify financial risks and guide the implementation of appropriate risk management strategies to safeguard the organisation’s assets. 

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements. 

• Work with auditors and legal advisors to oversee financial audits and ensure accurate and timely reporting.

• Financial Oversight: 

• Oversee the organisation’s financial resources, including budgeting, financial planning, and cash flow management.

• Receive and review monthly financial statements, reports against budgets, and forecasts to monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

• Ensure proper accounting practices and adherence to financial policies and procedures. 

Skills and experience/We are looking for a person who has:

• Financial or accounting qualifications and/or experience in bookkeeping, auditing, or business management

• Strong understanding of governance and compliance in the not-for-profit sector

• An interest in the arts and community 

• Willingness to engage collaboratively and proactively with a small, passionate and dedicated team

This is a volunteer position, with approximately one Board meeting every two months, and occasional input required between meetings.
