ERICA McCALMAN
Erica McCalman (she/her) is a creative director, speaker, writer and producer working at the intersection of live art, climate and systems change. She specialises in regenerative economies, collaboration between different lived experiences, connecting people to deeper conversations and uplifting new models in service of people and planet.
For nearly two decades she has brought projects to life for B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, Darwin Festival, Sydney Festival, Next Wave, Performance Space, APAM, British Council and Sydney WorldPride. She has facilitated, mentored and devised learning programs for Vitalstatistix, Hyphenated Projects, Creative Australia and Artback NT.
She has served on the boards of Theatre Network Australia, ILBIJERRI, La Mama and the advisory group for the Arts Wellbeing Collective.
As a speaker she is known for balancing warmth and good humour with unflinching insight into the complexities we face in turbulent times. Her provocation for APAX in 2025 "Only Castles Burning (Don't Let It Bring You Down)" was read and shared by more than 2000 arts professionals globally.
Erica is a graduate of Small Giants Academy’s Mastery of Business and Empathy and Climate Leadership Accelerator programs, and attained her Bachelor of Fine Art (Production) from the University of Melbourne Faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts.
A Ballardong Noongar woman with Irish convict, Cornish and Scottish heritage, Erica is also neurodivergent.
