PUBLIC CLASSES

 

GUTS public class program is designed to give people from ages 16 years and up a chance to connect to different styles of dance, their bodies and each other in a safe, fun environment.

Classes will run weekly and we will update the website with teachers if and when they change.

COST - $15 per class OR $100 for a 10 class pass (valid for 6 months). Please pay when attending classes.

We encourage people to sign up or get in touch if they would like more information by emailing us at gutsdance@gmail.com, however drop in is also welcome.

Classes will be held at the GUTS studio, Araluen Arts Centre. Please park in the front car park, and walk around the side of the building to enter between the rear or Witchetty’s and the theatre stage door.

CLASS SCHEDULE (current August 2019)

MONDAYS 6:00 - 7:15PM - HIP HOP/COMMERCIAL with NAT O’CONNOR

Ever thought that you just might have what it takes to be in a Beyonce film clip? Ready to take your secret dance moves (in front of a mirror with hair brush in hand) out into the big, wide world? Then this Hip Hop/commercial dance class is for you! Learn some fun dance routines, improve your fitness, polish your hip hop technique and connect with others in this beginner-friendly class. Come and shake it like a Polaroid picture with us!

THURSDAYS 5:30 - 6:45PM - BEGINNERS CONTEMPORARY with ROTATING TEACHERS

This class is aimed at those who have little experience with dance, and is designed to be an introduction to different elements of contemporary dance practice including technique, improvisation, learning choreography, sharing space with other bodies and getting all your bones and muscles moving! GUTS will be utilising the expertise of visiting professional dance artists when possible, with Maddy, Frankie or Miriam teaching the class in between.

THURSDAYS 7:00 - 8:15PM - ADVANCED CONTEMPORARY with ROTATING TEACHERS

An opportunity for those in the community with a knowledge of their bodies, previous training and experience in dance practice including improvisation and the learning of technique and choreography to further their abilities and explorations, as well as get MOVING! GUTS will be utilising the expertise of visiting professional dance artists when possible, with Maddy or Frankie teaching the class in between.

FRIDAYS 9:30 - 10:15AM - MINI MOVERS with LAUREN JONES

A creative movement class for your tots! This fun class will teach your mini movers basic dance techniques and help to build confidence. For parents and toddlers, this session is a relaxed, exciting and welcoming way to explore movement, props and music together.

FRIDAYS 10:30 - 11:30AM - CHANCE TO DANCE with LAUREN JONES

A beginner’s dance class for adults over 50. Come and learn a mixture of different dance styles in a welcoming space. No dance experience needed, just a desire to move! A fun way to get fit, learn new choreography and a great excuse for coffee and cake afterwards!
